"Bryson just ran through what he knows, and obviously, we're trying to do it as a group, but we're individuals as well, so I think the next two to three weeks is going to be where it's at," English golfer Richard Bland told reporters. "We're in this together; we're fully backing . I think probably in the next two to three weeks we'll have a bigger picture. We're just in that kind of stage at the minute that we're positive with what's going on, but we just need everything to be fully signed off so you can go forward." Cancelling the Team Championship and its $40 million purse would save the league money but wouldn't exactly inspire much confidence in LIV's future, especially since the New Orleans tournament was postponed and the Asian Tour decided to partner with the PGA Tour and DP World Tour last month. O'Neil and other power brokers remaining within the league have been seeking ways to reboot the league without the PIF funding. For the time being, however, LIV remains in a state of flux. "We've been told to prepare as though it's going ahead," Cameron Smith told reporters regarding the Team Championship. "So we're expecting it to happen. I'm really unsure, but we had a great year there last year in Detroit, and we're hoping we get back there." As for whether more players might ultimately defect back to the PGA Tour, as Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed did, they likely would be facing substantial financial earnings restrictions to do so as part of the Returning Member Program. But if LIV is indeed a sinking ship, those restrictions might still be the best raft available.
