Read our Privacy notice A TikTok video posted by Donald Trump’s campaign that included Taylor Swift’s song “August” has had the sound removed since it was posted four days ago. The TikTok account @TeamTrump shared a video soundtracked to the song, depicting Donald and Melania Trump standing on a balcony watching fireworks with the text: “Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president.” The caption reads: “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.” Fans noticed Friday that Swift’s track, from her 2020 album Folklore, has since been removed from the post by the copyright owner. In the U.S. version of the TikTok app, a message on the video reads: “The copyright owner hasn’t made this sound available in your country.” After the song was stripped from the post, one of Swift’s fans showed support by commenting: “TAYLOR REMOVING THE AUDIO QUEEEEEEN.” “Is the song with us right now?” said another. The Independent has contacted representatives for Swift and Trump for comment. The Team Trump TikTok account, which has 14 million followers, was created ahead of the 2024 U.S. presidential election. A video posted by the account in November that included Swift’s song “Father Figure” has also had the audio removed. The Team Trump account has appeared to troll Swift further, posting a screenshot of the tracklist for Swift’s album Red, but with the text and images altered in favor of Trump. The album’s title was changed to Red (Donald Trump’s Version) while song titles included “Red (Taylor Swift Wrote A Whole Album About Republicans)” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (The Biden Harris Administration).” It is not the first time the Trump administration has made a public dig at the world-renowned singer. On her July 4th wedding day, the White House issued a social media post parodying the billboards that were displayed in Manhattan’s Midtown announcing that the singer and Travis Kelce had tied the knot at Madison Square Garden. “IT’S HAPPENED!!!” the White House’s official X account said in a post, along with an AI-generated picture of pink billboards saying, “Trump is your president.” Trump and Swift have had bad blood for years. The feud escalated in 2024 after Swift endorsed Trump’s opponent Kamala Harris for president by saying, “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.” The endorsement enraged Trump and caused him to write on social media: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” He went on to warn that Swift would “pay a price for it in the marketplace.” In 2025, he mocked her again on his platform by writing, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’” However, he seemed to cool off later in the year. When news of Swift and Kelce’s engagement was announced in August, Trump congratulated the couple while speaking to reporters at a cabinet meeting. “Well, I wish them a lot of luck,” Trump said. “I think it’s — I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy and I think that she’s a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck.” Join thought-provoking conversations, follow other Independent readers and see their replies
